Workshops
As well as weekly classes we offer one - off creative workshops.
Led by our Artistic Director Lucy Haighton, we also bring in outside choreographers and workshop facilitators. Last year choreographer and artist Gerry Turvey from Leeds came and worked with the group. Gerry’s work playfully intervenes in public spaces, art galleries, and the natural environment. Gerry worked with us exploring landscapes of our bodies through improvisation and paying attention to the internal and external landscape within us.
50+CDS Dancing In The Parks
In the summer, Lucy led a series of 50+CDS Dancing In The Parks workshops. These workshops took place in outdoor locations in Sheffield’s local parks. The workshops were creative and improvisation based with Lucy leading the group through numerous games and tasks which allowed the dancers to connect and respond to the environment and to each other.

“For two hours I joined a very special group of dancers outside in lovely sunshine, connecting with stunning woodland and creating spontaneous dance pieces. Some of us had never danced in the outdoors before but all fears were very quickly allayed. We created tableaux, moved through and connected with the inspirational woodland, through dappling trees and sunshine, by the side of a sparkling lake, through shaded undergrowth, across open lawns. We experienced trust, togetherness, joy in each other’s company, some physical challenges and mental wellness. A truly memorable experience”
