Curtain raiser
In November Third Bite Dance was excited to be asked by PCK dance company if we would like to be the curtain raiser for their touring performance, Into the Light.

This was part of the Enable Us Performances held at Sheffield University’s Drama Studio. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to work with a professional dance company, learning the piece to be performed in a three hour workshop on the Saturday and an hour on the Sunday. We were encouraged to think about how we moved together, use of breath, different tempo in the movements, how fast movements could be gentle, working together, especially in canons and to keep an awareness of the space and of each other. It was challenging, and at times a bit daunting to think we could learn this piece well enough to perform on the Monday evening, but felt fully supported by both James and Travis, and inspired by their creativity and confidence in our ability to perform. On the Monday we had an hour rehearsal in the Drama studio, along with tech for lighting. The actual 4 minute performance went really well and we were then able to sit down and watch PCKs two amazing dance pieces. It felt like a real privilege to have been given this opportunity, and the insight and confidence we have gained will stay with us. Thank you Travis and James!
With thanks to PCK Dance and Enable Us at Sheffield University for making this happen.
